In all the world and all its wonders, there is a wave of sound filled with magic and beauty that can be heard from all corners of the world. On Monday, May 23, that magic fell on the corner of Meridian and South street in downtown Indianapolis, in one of the coolest settings to listen to live music, The Slippery Noodle Inn.
Iced Earth fans around the world, I envy you all. You guys have the coolest festivals and are the greatest metal fans ever. But for this night, it was my night to experience a bit of a powerful piece of Iced Earth in all its splendor. Metal is forged with love that is raw & powerful. Iced Earth is that!
Knowing that Iced Earth is set to start their huge World Tour in Europe this October, well, that's why I'm envious; I know I can't be there. On Monday, May 23, 2011, I had the golden opportunity to meet some new friends at the Noodle, and I listened to some great music, an opportunity that many fans overseas will never have. So, I thought I would share my thoughts on this musician just to let you know that even in my corner of the world lie opportunities to meet an individual that I had only seen in a world so far away. Imagine my surprise when I learned that we live in the same city!
You all may have heard of this guy named Troy Seele. He is the lead guitarist for one of the greatest metal bands around, Iced Earth. What a true gent! He is an all around great guy. His skills on guitar are amazing. While sitting there, listening to Troy play, it suddenly hit me. I'm sitting in a cozy blues room with Troy Seele, guitarist for Iced Earth. Wow! How could it get any better than that?
He plays with another local great, Chris Shaffer, founder and leader of The Why Store, when he is not touring with Iced Earth. The two of them create some sweet sounds of magic that fill the room with an energy that can only be silenced by the ending of the last song.
That night, a new friendship was forged with those around me, and you know who you are. Thank you! You don't know how much I enjoyed being there in that circle of Light.
His musical tastes are quite extensive, from bluegrass to blues to rock to metal, a great musician, and a kind-hearted person who loves his fans. It flips my mind to know that there are people who walk right past him and sit there and listen to the music. They have no clue that this guy plays guitar for one of the greatest metal bands around, Iced Earth. \m/ \m/
